La Casa Verde

Headquarters and Guesthouse

La Casa Verde houses the local headquarters and office of the Hacienda Tranquila, S. A. as well as two guest rooms. The ample and fully equipped kitchen is shared by the guests. Both bathrooms have hot water and showers. The villa is located on the high point of the east side of the bay, partially hidden, and nestled in greenery. The extended balcony offers dramatic views across the bay, of town, and of the Northwestern coastline. Three surf breaks are visible from the porch: el Cañon, Outer Reef and Tongo. La Casa Verde is near enough to the center of town to be convenient but also far enough away to be peaceful and very importantly it is close to the surf breaks.

The structure is the original building that was constructed as the National Park Headquarters in 1986. It has been fully refurbished and updated with new plumbing, roof, doors, windows, ceiling fans, tiling and internet access. The favored local beach Playa Mann is a few hundred feet down the hill in front of the San Francisco University- GAIAS campus. The fickle, but world class surf break, Carola, is a seven minute walk from there.

 

Casa Verde Activities

We have two guest suites available in town at Casa Verde, which also houses our office. In my humble opinion, we have the very best location in town. We are on the edge of town on the highest point of coastline on the entire bay. There is a long balcony along the ocean side providing stunning views across the bay but protected from the outside by dense foliage. A very tranquil and calming location while still being very close to the center of town. Of the two rooms, the larger room has two beds, and windows on both sides of the house allowing for the very pleasant cross breeze. The smaller room is in the front corner of the house, has one large bed and is suitable for couples or small families. The house has ceiling fans for the rare cases when there is no breeze. The kitchen is fully equipped with a propane gas four burner stove, refrigerator and the all important blender for daily fruit smoothies. The grounds are very private, on the ocean side and set back from the road to Playa Mann, with no other houses or development around.

The favorite local beach, Playa Mann, is a minute away, across from the university, and the world class surf break, Punta Carola is a seven minute walk away.

The Interpretation Center, a local museum of natural and human history of Galapagos, is located just past Playa Mann on the right hand side- a 5 minute walk from the Casa Verde.
